The new possibilities offered by recycling technology in the dermocosmetics industry

How many times, in front of organic and/or natural products we get horrified by the fact that they are sold in plastic packaging?! On the contrary, how pleased we are when we realise that plastic is substituted by glass, paper or even wood! But should we really demonise plastic to such an extent? Is it truly the worst enemy for our planet? We have asked this question to one of the most known italian packaging producer, who works with both plastic and glass containers.

Capardoni group, 100% italian factory of packaging for cosmetics, which has been searching and promoting new eco friendly solutions, will explain to us why plastic could be considered ecological. First of all- CEO( Capardoni group )Stefano Meazza says that plastic used in packaging has no equal and can be employed in cosmetics for different types of formulation.

The research has been testing different recycled plastic materials ( from after use or production waste) which could be recycled again. PP, PE AND PET above all can be recycled and in turn recyclable , 100% in the same recycling chain of the traditional polyethylene. To all plastics we can add wooden pulp and other vegetable origin materials, which give a more pleasant aspect for the consumers and which can be easily recycled. Finally, through more efficient and environmentally respectful industrial procedures we can produce huge quantity of products with recycled plastic which can be furthermore used again and again.

For the environment well being we should all increase our ecological awareness, therefore get used not to throw and disperse waste: if plastic water bottles were not abandoned on the beach, in a park or in general in the environment but put in specific recycled waste containers , we would be able to see results pretty rapidly. It's the discarded plastic that pollutes not the one we can reuse. So we should not condemn plastic but the thoughtless behaviour of its consumers.

Certainly not all plastic is recyclable: black plastics for example cannot be used nor cutlery ,straws, syringes, rigid plastic such as under vases, document folders etc. On the other hand not all glass is recyclable either: glasses, single use vials, light bulbs etc. In the recycling we can only put bottles or small jars. In addition if we think that to produce a glass container we need the double of the energy required to produce plastic, the common belief that plastic is the enemy and glass the Angel of salvation is lessening.

As doc. Meazza rightly says we should use ecological awareness . Everyone should have more civic sense towards recycling and reducing waste. Each one of us should be more responsible for that knowledge that will lead us to the rebirth of our planet.

Now, more than ever. After the lockdown we all personally experienced the awakening of nature, a certain cleanliness not only from air pollution but also from noise and light pollution, etc. In many places even reappeared wild animals not seen for a long time. In conclusion , let's not demonize plastic but let's all learn how to use it like any other object or type of energy available.
