We name ourselves "Earthlings" but our body is mainly composed of water.

Everyday we lose about 2.5 liters of liquids which must constantly be reintroduced since our body’s hydration, especially our skin’s one, takes longer than you think. Hydration does not occur simultaneously throughout the whole body.

There are many benefits that can be obtained from proper hydration:

  • The notorious ideal weight. Did you know that hunger could simply be a symptom of lack of water in your body? Well yes. Your cells rebel by sending warning signals to the brain when the body is not properly hydrated, therefore regularly drinking at least 2 liters of water a day will leave you feeling full (and will make it easier to expel fats and toxins).
  • In the long run, your memory will also benefit from it since a dehydrated body cannot function efficiently. For example, brain cells may struggle to communicate with each other causing unwanted effects such as confusion and irritability. So hydration does not only act on our body, but also contributes to improving cognitive functions and therefore memory.
  • Tackles tiredness. The equation is simple: More water = More energy. Add it all up and you'll find out how this can also help you sleep better, and you may also be able to say goodbye to supplements or coffee every morning.
  • Slows down the aging process. Our body needs water to function at its best and when it dehydrates, our organs are forced to work harder and this could lead to an acceleration of our cells’ aging process.

A Moisturized skin is happy skin: the difference between moisturizing cream and nourishing cream

Skin is our business card and we must take care of it to present ourselves in the best possible way, and is there a better ally than water?

Just like our body, our skin needs appropriate hydration. Considering that it is nothing more than an organ (the biggest one, actually) capable of functioning efficiently only if properly hydrated.

How? You may be thinking!

  • If you want to slow down the aging process without appealing to plastic surgery (which is also quite expensive), drinking an appropriate amount of water every day will reduce the visible signs of premature aging while maintaining elasticity, cause no one wants dry, chapped and tight skin.

  • Tackles excess of sebum and acne. It may seem unnatural, but dehydrated skin is able to send signals to the sebaceous glands to produce more sebum as a defense mechanism. Proper hydration will make the skin less fat and oily and acne will tend to decrease.

Having understood the effects that all this can have on our skin, did you know that there is a difference between moisturizing and nourishing products?

They may seem identical, but they are not. Moisturizing products are formulated with the aim of increasing the water content in our skin, giving it a plumped appearance. While the nourishing products, capable of providing lipid active ingredients, have the aim of retaining hydration.

Is that clear? Hydration is what can make a difference to our skin’s health and appearance. We must learn to take care of it and understand its needs just like we do for our body.
